Bath re-enamelling at your home in Eddington

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Common call-outs are for a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a coating lifting around the plughole, in acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Eddington and across West Berkshire.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Eddington, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

When to call us in Eddington

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

10 questions to ask before booking

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Have chips seen to early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
