Bath re-enamelling in Egham without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Egham. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Egham clients choose us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Fixed prices from your photos

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Never use suction bath mats

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What affects the price in Egham

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire bath

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know about parking or access

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Questions from Egham

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.
