Trusted bath re-enamelling in Felsted

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Felsted

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is typically the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Common call-outs are for lots of chips and rust spots and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • What kind of damage it is

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Felsted, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Felsted

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why us?

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

For anyone letting property in or around Felsted, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

Questions from Felsted

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Do you cover the entire of Essex?

The whole UK, including all of Essex. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll confirm dates.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a full day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
