Book bath re-enamelling in Harlow

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Harlow?

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • When it can be used again
  • How changes to the job are handled

10 questions to ask before booking

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Harlow

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We are often asked to fix a coloured bath you want in white and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, in acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we cannot put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. You can expect it to take most of the day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Questions from Harlow

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Care for it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Are there extra charges for Harlow?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.
