Bath re-enamelling at your home in Filham
Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, and you can use the bath the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and a coating lifting around the plughole, in Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Why Filham clients choose us

Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.
Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Pressed steel
Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Filham
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
Clients usually contact us about:
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Wear marks under the taps
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
Questions to ask before you book
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- How soon you can use it again
- What protection goes down before work starts
- What aftercare is recommended
How the visit works
Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Open a window if you can
- Clear the area around the damage

DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The material
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Filham. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from pictures
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Something in shot to show the size
- Natural light rather than flash
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.
