Bath re-enamelling at your home in Four Ashes

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Common call-outs are for a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, in basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Four Ashes

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Normally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What affects the price in Four Ashes

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
