Bath re-enamelling near Furzton

About our bath re-enamelling in Furzton

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a coating lifting around the plughole.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

When we’d advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

How to look after the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take most of the day.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Furzton, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Furzton

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Milton Keynes and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Repairing versus replacing in Furzton

Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Common questions in Furzton

Are there extra charges for Furzton?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Can you quote from photos?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
