Need bath re-enamelling in Gloucester?

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Gloucester

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a coating lifting around the plughole and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths

What we’re called out for in Gloucester

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Aftercare advice
  • How your room will be protected

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your GL4 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
