Bath re-enamelling in Great Glen

Great Glen questions

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Leicestershire.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Great Glen

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Typical jobs include brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What we’re called out for in Great Glen

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

How it works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Related advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Access to the area

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Great Glen. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

What you get with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Great Glen as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.
