Bath re-enamelling near Green Tye

Bath re-enamelling in Green Tye without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. If you are dealing with stains that won’t shift and several chips and rust patches, we can help, whatever the material.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Green Tye questions

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a full day, tidy-up included.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the area is dry

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Have chips seen to early

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What affects the price in Green Tye

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The material
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Most clients in Green Tye get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

For anyone letting property in or around Green Tye, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.
