About our bath re-enamelling in Greenmeadow

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about wear marks under the taps and stains that won’t shift.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size

For a price in Greenmeadow, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Greenmeadow

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Usually, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

How to look after the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
