Bath re-enamelling in Harpford

About our bath re-enamelling in Harpford

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Questions from Harpford

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you come to Harpford?

We do. We send a technician to Harpford for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

DIY kit or professional repair?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Harpford. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Never use suction bath mats

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a full day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the area is dry

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Related advice

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Harpford

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who will actually do the work
