Bath re-enamelling for Harrowden homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Harrowden

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and worn patches where water runs and sits.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What a repair cannot fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When to call us in Harrowden

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Harrowden, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Harrowden use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
