How we handle bath re-enamelling in Bedford
If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Typical jobs include stains that won’t shift and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
What a repair can’t fix
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
Surfaces we repair
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
Common questions in Bedford
What happens next?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.
Is there a smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Is it messy?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
- Wear marks under the taps

How the visit works
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow the best part of a day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.
How to prepare
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
How to get a price
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
Advice
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.
How to care for the repair
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.
