Bath re-enamelling in Heage, done in place
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. We’re often asked to fix a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day, with the bath back in use the day after. Prices start from £350. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What we’re called out for in Heage
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Look out for any of the following:
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
Questions to ask before you book
- What prep work is covered
- When it can be used again
- Who will actually do the work
- Whether they match the colour on site
Can I fix it myself?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

When a repair isn’t the answer
In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.
Materials we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
What happens on the day
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a full day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
Getting a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
Advice
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Have chips seen to early
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Questions from Heage
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.
Is there a smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Will the price change on the day?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Do you charge for travel?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
Will the bath be moved?
Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Can pets and children be at home?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
