Bath re-enamelling at your home in Holywell

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and a coating lifting around the plughole, in cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Holywell. What changes the price is:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job.

Repairing versus replacing in Holywell

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why Holywell clients choose us

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
