Bath re-enamelling near Truro

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Truro

We don’t move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and people most frequently call us about brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow most of the day. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Truro

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Can you price it without visiting?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Are there extra charges for Truro?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

  • Who turns up on the day

Choosing a repair company

What we cannot put right

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
