Bath re-enamelling at your home in Huxham's Cross Estate

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are wear marks under the taps and a coloured bath you want in white.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A fixed quote before booking

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes most of the day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
