Bath re-enamelling in Inverbervie without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It normally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. If you’re dealing with a coloured bath you want in white and wear marks under the taps, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

How to care for the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

How it works

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Common problems we fix in Inverbervie

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Wear marks under the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Inverbervie questions

Do you cover the whole of Aberdeenshire?

The whole UK, including all of Aberdeenshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Inverbervie. What changes the price is:

  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many areas need work

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
