Bath re-enamelling in Ipsden without replacing anything

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Typical jobs include an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, in cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to the best part of a day, tidy-up included.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Advice

What we’re called out for in Ipsden

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

What your quote should include

  • How to look after the finish
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Choosing a repair company

Questions from Ipsden

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide, so Ipsden is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Do you come to Ipsden?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Ipsden for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Repairing versus replacing in Ipsden

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • No need to remove anything
  • Colour-matched on site

Take a look at our pricing or bath cost comparison.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Ipsden. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
