About our bath re-enamelling in Kirkcudbright
A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We’re frequently asked to fix a coloured bath you want in white and an old resurfacing that’s failing, in Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths.

Kirkcudbright questions
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
What information do you need?
Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Is there a smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
Is my repair covered?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Have chips seen to early
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
What you get with us
- Work done at your home or business
- Usually one visit, start to finish
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- A fixed quote before booking

Can I fix it myself?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Kirkcudbright
In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.
Look out for these signs:
- Stains that won’t shift
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- Several chips and rust patches
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating

How it works
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the day after.
Before we arrive
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.
What we cannot put right
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:
- A bath that’s rusted through
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
What we work on
