Bath re-enamelling for Tongland homes

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Tongland

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, and you can use the bath the next day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. If you are dealing with enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a coloured bath you want in white, we can help, whatever the material.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Landlord and trade work in Tongland

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Questions from Tongland

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Typically, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you work in Tongland?

We do. Technicians travel to Tongland from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Dumfries and Galloway. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Tongland

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Common problems we fix in Tongland

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Questions to ask before you book

  • When it can be used again
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
