How we handle bath re-enamelling in Langbank

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

What we can’t put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Langbank: your questions answered

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes most of the day.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why Langbank clients choose us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Langbank

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste

10 questions to ask before you book

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Langbank use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
