Bath re-enamelling in Gourock without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Whether it’s lots of chips and rust spots and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, we can help, whatever the material.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Common questions in Gourock

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Do you cover the entire of Inverclyde?

We cover the entire UK, including Gourock and the rest of Inverclyde. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Do you come to Gourock?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Gourock and the rest of Inverclyde. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Landlord and trade work in Gourock

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Gourock. What changes the price is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Common problems we fix in Gourock

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Choosing a repair company

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes most of the day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
