Bath re-enamelling near Latchingdon

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Latchingdon

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are worn patches where water runs and sits and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Common questions in Latchingdon

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Do you work in Latchingdon?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Latchingdon. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

What we can’t put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Latchingdon. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • The material

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
