Need bath re-enamelling in Lathones?

Bath re-enamelling in Lathones without replacing anything

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people contact us are wear marks under the taps and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Lathones. What changes the price is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Lathones. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Our hiring checklist

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Open a window if you can

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lathones use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, usually one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.
