Bath re-enamelling in Llanbadarn Fawr, done in place

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the next day. We are frequently asked to fix a coating lifting around the plughole and chips and rust in more than one place, across cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • No extra charge for your area

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take the best part of a day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Something in shot to show the size

Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your SY23 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
