Bath re-enamelling for Lyme Regis homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Lyme Regis

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the day after. Common call-outs are for an old resurfacing that’s failing and stains that won’t shift, in cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Lyme Regis

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Will the new finish last?

Care for it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Lyme Regis?

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which typically takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
