Trusted bath re-enamelling in Ware

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Bath re-enamelling in Ware without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the day after. We work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and a peeling or bubbling previous coating.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Ware and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Ware

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Common questions in Ware

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Ware?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your DT7 postcode.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Ware. What changes the price is:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Have chips seen to early

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Ware?

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
