Bath re-enamelling in Marchington

About our bath re-enamelling in Marchington

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are lots of chips and rust spots and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee.

Repairing versus replacing in Marchington

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Marchington

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

10 questions to ask before booking

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Questions from Marchington

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
