Bath re-enamelling in Nantyglo

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Nantyglo

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Common call-outs are for thin, worn enamel in places and a coating lifting around the plughole, in acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

When to call us in Nantyglo

Often the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • How the colour is matched
  • How long it needs to cure
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Nantyglo

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, and that includes Nantyglo. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, often. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes most of the day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
