Bath re-enamelling in New Mill

Do you need bath re-enamelling in New Mill?

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coloured bath you want in white

What your quote should include

  • Who will actually do the work
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Bath re-enamelling at your home in New Mill

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in New Mill and across Cornwall.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for New Mill. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

New Mill questions

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

What areas do you cover?

All of Cornwall, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us
