How we handle bath re-enamelling in Rattar

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Repairing versus replacing in Rattar

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Ensure they show:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Rattar

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Do you cover the entire of Highland?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Rattar, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Rattar use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
