Bath re-enamelling near Sharpthorne

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Sharpthorne

We don’t move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the day after. We’re frequently asked to fix a roll-top that’s seen better days and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Sharpthorne

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A coloured bath you want in white

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common questions in Sharpthorne

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do you work in Sharpthorne?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Sharpthorne and the rest of West Sussex. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes the best part of a day. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

What a repair can’t fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
