Bath Re-enamelling in West Sussex

How bath re-enamelling works in West Sussex

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Our repair technicians work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people get in touch are staining under the taps and around the waste and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Pricing in West Sussex

Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Getting a price

Most customers in West Sussex get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What’s near Crawley

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, St Wilfrid's Catholic School and Tilgate Park and the streets around them. Also close by are The George Hotel (within half a mile north), Three Bridges Junior School (less than half a mile south-east) and St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School (under half a mile south-east). Crawley has its own railway station: Crawley station. Further afield, we also cover the area around Crawley Hospital (0.5 miles north-west) and County Mall (within half a mile north-east). For a walk, there is Tilgate Lake.

What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around West Sussex, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

West Sussex: your questions answered

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
