How it works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Sparkbrook

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are several chips and rust patches and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Sparkbrook and across Birmingham.

Landlord and trade work in Sparkbrook

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Sparkbrook questions

Do you cover Sparkbrook?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Sparkbrook. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Are there extra charges for Sparkbrook?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How long is the bath unusable?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Sparkbrook?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
