Bath re-enamelling in Sticklynch

Bath re-enamelling in Sticklynch without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We’re frequently asked to fix a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we do, step by step

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Sticklynch?

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • How your room will be protected
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How long it needs to cure

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Sticklynch questions

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your BA6 postcode.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.
