Need bath re-enamelling in Stone Street?

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Stone Street

About our bath re-enamelling in Stone Street

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We are often asked to fix a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and chips and rust in more than one place, across acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Suffolk and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Stone Street

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Why Stone Street clients choose us

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a full day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the following day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
