Bath re-enamelling at your home in Swinstead
We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a coloured bath you want in white.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Work for landlords and builders
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.
Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
What we do, step by step
You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Before we arrive
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Let us know about parking or access

Swinstead questions
Can I get a quote without a visit?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
Is the work guaranteed?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you charge for travel?
We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:
- How many areas need work
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How hard the colour is to match
- Access to the area
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Send photos for a quote
You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Make sure they show:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Any details about the material
- Where you are, by postcode
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately whether it can be repaired.
Repair or replace in Swinstead?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
What you get with us
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Every repair guaranteed for a year
- Most jobs done in one visit
Read our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Honest limits
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- A metal bath with a through crack
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Holes rusted through the metal
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
