Need bath re-enamelling in The Quar?

Bath re-enamelling in The Quar, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is usually the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and people most often call us about thin, worn enamel in places and lots of chips and rust spots.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in The Quar

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Look out for these signs:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Questions to ask before you book

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

The Quar: your questions answered

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you work in The Quar?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to The Quar. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can you quote from pictures?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Have chips seen to early

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Landlord and trade work in The Quar

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in The Quar as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Repairing versus replacing in The Quar

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for The Quar. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including The Quar. The price reflects:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
