Bath re-enamelling at your home in The Rock

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We’re often asked to fix a peeling or bubbling previous coating and lots of chips and rust spots, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in The Rock

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: dull areas, chips, rust and staining. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Stains that won’t shift

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

FAQs for The Rock

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • A bath that is rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

What we do, step by step

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to the best part of a day, including clearing up.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Never use suction bath mats

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Landlords, agents and businesses in The Rock

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

If you manage property in The Rock, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs

Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in The Rock, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
