Need bath re-enamelling in Thelbridge?

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

Bath re-enamelling in Thelbridge, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are staining under the taps and around the waste and lots of chips and rust spots.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, often. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How long is the bath unusable?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We give you timings with the quote.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How much damage there is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Thelbridge?

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Clients generally contact us about:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste

10 questions to ask before you book

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.
