Need bath re-enamelling in Tovil?

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

About our bath re-enamelling in Tovil

A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, without any of the disruption of replacing it. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We are often asked to fix an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and stains that won’t shift, on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Tovil

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

When to call us in Tovil

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A coloured bath you want in white

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Tovil

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes most of the day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Open a window if you can

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
