Bath re-enamelling in Town Green, done in place

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we don’t cut corners on it. Typical jobs include a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and wear marks under the taps, in acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take most of the day. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Never use suction bath mats

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Town Green

Often the bath has just had decades of use. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is usually as strong as ever.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

Landlord and trade work in Town Green

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Repairing versus replacing in Town Green

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
