Bath re-enamelling in Trash Green

Bath re-enamelling in Trash Green, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about a bath in a colour that no longer suits and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the next day.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Trash Green?

Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Our hiring checklist

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Trash Green

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • No need to remove anything

Take a look at our pricing and bath cost comparison.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The colour and finish to match

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it

Most clients in Trash Green get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

FAQs for Trash Green

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
