Need bath re-enamelling in Tredomen?

What affects the price in Tredomen

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Tredomen. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Tredomen, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Tredomen

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Whether it’s thin, worn enamel in places and several chips and rust patches, we can generally put it right, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Repairing versus replacing in Tredomen

Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Tredomen questions

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Tredomen?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
