Bath re-enamelling for Treorchy homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Treorchy

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and wear marks under the taps, across acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Treorchy. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

What we’re called out for in Treorchy

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches

Before booking anyone

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How the colour is matched
  • How to look after the finish
