Bath re-enamelling in Treswell without replacing anything

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Whether it’s an outdated colour you’d like to change and worn patches where water runs and sits, we can usually put it right.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Treswell and across Nottinghamshire.

For anyone letting property in or around Treswell, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Something in shot to show the size

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Treswell

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

What happens next?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes most of the day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
