Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Bath re-enamelling in Two Locks, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is generally the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. If you’re dealing with a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, we can help, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths alike.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Two Locks

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Look out for these signs:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • How soon you can use it again

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Open a window if you can

Getting a price

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job without visiting.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
