Trusted bath re-enamelling in Upton Cheyney

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Upton Cheyney

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for a coloured bath you want in white and a roll-top that’s seen better days, on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Questions from Upton Cheyney

How long does re-enamelling take?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Advice

How to look after the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
